Allied Universal is looking to hire a Wage and Hour Compliance Manager. This position is responsible for managing wage and hour and labor law compliance management program and conducting live audits to ensure compliance with wage and hour and labor law.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Those duties necessary to meet the minimum requirements of the position. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Manage, oversee, and ensure completion of branch/site self-audit to ensure compliance with State and local wage and hour and labor laws.

  • Conduct desk audit of branch/site to confirm results of self-audit of wage and hour practices.

  • Use independent judgment to identify sites for suit, and develop comprehensive audit plans with schedules for primary audits and follow up audits.

  • Travel to branches/sites throughout the region to assess wage and hour practices, review relevant written materials, and interview managers, supervisors and security officers to assess wage and hour practices and compliance

  • Document audit process and results in comprehensive and easily understandable report.

  • Formulate remedial plans and recommendations to ensure on-going compliance with wage and hour laws which can be effectively implemented, including coordination of relevant training.

  • Follow up with site/district/regional management to ensure the effective implementation of audit recommendations.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Those duties, which relate to the essential duties above and will play an important role in compliance manager’s success:

  • Present audit findings in writing and verbally to all levels of company, including Region Managers, Vice Presidents and Presidents, HR staff and legal department.

  • Identify patterns and trends in wage and hour compliance and report on same.

  • Develop Wage and Hour Training curriculum for classroom settings and individual one-on-one sessions. Conduct management training on a regular basis.

  • Prepare legal alerts on wage and hour topics to be circulated to all managers in California.

  • Recommend to and work with the corporate Legal Department and Region & Corporate Human Resources to develop and ensure compliance with wage and hour policies and procedures.

  • Investigate wage claims complaints that are indicative of potential systemic problems.

  • Minimum BS/BA in Business/related degree (or equivalent related experience) requir

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of effective auditing procedures/techniques.

  • Must have solid understanding of the federal and California state and local wage and hour laws.

  • Must have significant experience working with wage and hour compliance issues in either a corporate in house or law firm/litigation setting.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization while functioning as a team player.

  • Experience as an Auditor preferred; Human Resources experience is a plus.

  • Experience developing and delivering training programs is preferred.

  • Must possess ability to gather detailed information, synthesize data and present the same in an easily understandable manner.

  • Energetic, driven personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlin Must be able to work independently and be self-directed, but also work with all levels of managers within the assigned region, which may result in having to re-prioritize work activities on a regular basis.

  • Should possess strong leadership skills, be goal orientated, and a strong sense of responsibility and ownership for the company’s success.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Must have a clean driving record, possess a valid driver’s license and minimum required insurance, and have a reliable vehicle for regular driving to and from audit locations.

  • Must have the flexibility and ability to travel when needed, up to 20% or more of the time, as required.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is constantly required to talk and hear (effectively communicate verbally in person and via regular telephone equipment in English), and must be able to read computer screens, and both read and create correspondence and reports in English.

  • The employee must be able to work a regular full-time schedule, and must be able to work more than a standard 40 hour, Monday-Friday schedule as required by business needs (e., must have flexibility and willingness to work the amount of time required to meet expectations for the position, which may regularly be an additional 10+ hours per week, including some evening and weekend hours).
